Yesterday we saw the musical Wicked with my extended family at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. It was *so* great- probably my favorite musical so far, that I've seen. It's a fantastic story and the cast was very talented. There was a lot of fun humor in it as well. If you browse around the website there is a section on "sounds" where you can hear clips from some of the songs. The "Popular" one was probably my favorite. :)
I've been dreaming a lot lately - of a successful photography business; of living in a house at the beach; of quiet mornings in the sand; of riding my pink beach cruiser everyday; of losing myself in good books; of journaling; of creating; of traveling.
Today is my first day home. We got back from the family reunion on Sunday night but have been in Orange County for the last few days. I've had the opportunity to spend the last few days in solitude, though yesterday I was alone with thousands on the beach. ;) I didn't take one single photograph but I'll have plenty to show you from last week. :)
I've been reading a *lot* in the past few weeks. I've just been devouring books, reading them in a day or two. The books above are the ones I've read so far this summer. I have a stack of nearly twice as many books waiting to be read and am always looking for great recommendations. What have been some of your most favorite recent reads? How about your all time fave.?
These are some of my favorite "random" shots from the various parks we visited yesterday. I'm sure there will be more but these really popped out to me. The awesome one of the sun through the trees was by Alex and I just loved it so much I had to process it. :) I hope these brighten your day as they have mine.
We've spent the last two days in Alex's hometown, Topeka. I am so inspired by my surroundings here and it was such a pleasure for the change of scenery. Today we had two sessions and typical of the Midwest, both families were super nice. :) My session this morning was with a 5 year old girl and her 2.5 year old brother. She was seriously smart and he was so beautiful, it was everything not to pick him up and kiss him to death. ;)
My session this evening was with a fabulous mom and her two sons. We did their session at their local skate park which was so fun! Here are a few:
We'll be in Kansas for a family reunion all of next week. I'm not sure if I'll have internet service at the hotel to post or respond to emails so please keep this in mind. If you are waiting to see images from your session, please hold your inquisitions until the following week. I will be spending much of my down time processing but won't be available for ordering, etc. until after the 23rd. I appreciate your patience.
And because no good post goes without photos - here are a couple more from yesterday. :)
This morning we did Part II of this college grad. senior session. :) I have tons more proofs to go through but I thought she might like this sneak peek. I *love* this abandoned house as a session location but today was a bit weird because someone is living in a tent in the backyard now and was doing um, exercises, while we were there.
I took a bunch of photos of my sister while we were there. The last few months have done nothing but mature her face(!) so we're starting over and building her another portfolio. She has her first call back / orientation this weekend and is quite thrilled. She's such a natural and we're very proud of her. :)
