In the previous post I showed you my inspiration for my latest project. I was commissioned to design thank you cards for a nautical themed baby shower. For me the design process starts with the idea (mine or the commissioners). I usually have a general idea of what direction to go in. If it's an illustration or scrapbook layout I will draw a quick sketch of what I intend to create. From there I'll make notes and ammendments. For this particular project I sent my first rough design for notes and feedback. This was what I sent:
Very simple, clean lines, boy. From there I was told right direction but more nautical themed - red, white, and blue, anchor, etc. My next design was the winner:
I get so inspired creating something for another person using their initial ideas. This is a relatively new process for me and it's making me very excited. I've really enjoyed these projects and they've gotten the ideas flowing for what else I want to be doing. You may notice I've changed the look of my blog a bit - I customized the columns and changed my banner. Yesterday I also created a new Etsy shop, which I've been wanting to do for a while now. Love, Joleen Photo offers limited edition fine art prints for your home or other personal space. I'm so excited to be sharing some of my still life photography with you! In the left column you will find links to both of my Etsy shops. If you have an idea of something you'd like me to create for you, please feel free to email me! ♥
